Is it normal to miss the 1970's?.

I was born in 1969 and my earliest memory is of January 1972.
I loved the music, British films and TV of it's day but now I thinks it's all gone down hill since the 1990's, maybe because of my age as by 1990 I stopped being a teenager and lost interest in music, and films and TV seems to be so awful now, too many channels that I can't keep up with, where as the 1970's you had only three channels and and Slade and all the other glam rockers, it seemed much easier then.
I feel quite nostalgic as it was a time of my childhood and I was safe with my family, now it's bills and no certain future with regards to a secure job the way the government is now.
Rose tinted glasses maybe but I still think about those great times and think of the family that are gone like my dad and my nana, still got my mam and my grandfather and my children though.

    Spangles. Flares. Spacehoppers. Powercuts. The Marathon and Amazing Raisin bars. Kids wearing shorts to school. Pint of beer for 17p. Vesta curry was posh. A silver Christmas tree from Woolworth's. Morecambe & Wise. I could go on. I choose not to.

    I know what you mean: the past is a comfortable place, and the 70s were great. Trouble is, that's gone. At least we experienced it and have those memories.

    Yeah. The 70's were great. People weren't so sensitive and the government didn't force their political correctness bullshit on us.

    I was born in '67...and from the U.S.

    I recently wrote a story about growing up in an era living free...and how sad it is that's lost on this generation.

    I think you say it yourself, things were always better back then. Maybe that's because things were better, or maybe it's because you were younger.

    I was born in 1985, and I enjoy much of the music of the 70s, especially some of the progressive rock from the UK. I think that it coming from a past decade makes me take it more seriously.

    Boy, me too. Less crime, nice cars, no AIDS meant you could have bareback sex, and a dollar was worth something. Gas was $.65.
