Is it normal to mess up this bad?

Well, finally found a girl who didn't turn me down outright, but she likes someone else. She's also a friend of mine so I pretty much sent a text saying I didn't want to mess things up with this chick she liked, so I'd just let it go & help her out, cuz I care for her unconditionally. Now I'm thinking that I not only failed to show backbone, but also gave off a "nice guy" vibe that says "ignore me". What do I do?

It depends how much you like her. I will sometimes back off (kind of like you did) if there's competition and it'd cause problems. But if you really like someone, you have to fight for her. You may not have blown your chance completely but if you want to turn this around you have to act quickly and decisively and whatever you do has to have impact.

I'll be honest with you, though - you haven't helped your chances.

From the first bit "finally found a girl who didn't turn me down outright" I get the sense that you aren't as into her as you say... No offense intended. I think you should move on and try again with someone else

She's not a lesbian. She likes the D too much. She just don't want to date guys at the moment...although your suggestion is now plan b, thanks gravy

Mr Grey, get a rope and drag her back to your teepee. the next morning if she still wants to bat for the other team, move on and have some self respect. There's nothing more lame than a Dutch boy. Look up In the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, no it's LESBIMAN.

Sorry just decided to clarify incase it confused anyone. Not implying anyone's stupid.

Ok. To be clear, the girl I like, let's call her Sally, likes my friend, we'll call her Tracy. Sally is mad at the majority of the male population for 2 cases of rape & many douchey BFs. She's not avoiding guys forever, but she still likes Tracy. And me liking her, even passively going after her, is causing confusion. That's the condensed version. More or less.

Well, I prob forgot to mention but the "someone else" is a chick. Also the girl I like is currently pissed at the male population. So even if I tried, which I still am in a much more passive way, I'm probably STILL fucked. But thanks for all the advice/input.

Jesus Christ mate, you couldn't get a root in a whore house with a pocket full of pineapples. What's next, "I care for you unconditionally, so I've brought my mate along to fuck you for me in case I ruin it" start with a heart ligament before attempting to grow a backbone.

        No.
        No offence intended.
Light hearted jests mostly with Aussie / metaphors. Ever met an Aussie (other than someone from Fountain Lakes)?
BTW, your username is frightfully offensive, kinda Bart Simpsonish.
However, point taken, Ms suckonthis9, I apologise for offending your sensitivities and I shall refrain from using the lords name in vain. Have fun in the sun tomorrow, for me, back to sleep in a very uncomfortable dirty bed / floor. Oh, cheese and biscuits, why the bleeding hell hit me with a copy/paste of the Oxford Concise? Some people go to far :-(

          Your response contains inaccuracies.
I am a male creature, not a female creature.
Who is this feudal magnate that you speak of? Is this the person responsible for causing your hardship?
          Why is this netherworld bleeding?

Hardship was the grotty bed / floor brought about by an insatiable desire for adventure. Shit, sorry about assuming the Ms title. Nevertheless, a bit of a girl's blouse. Take a teaspoon of cement and harden the ferk up.

The way you speak is fucking hilarious. I heard the Aussie accent in my head as I read your initial post. I look forward to seeing you around XD
