Is it normal to melt ice cream in the microwave on purpose?

So one day, not too long ago, I was craving some ice cream, but the a.c. was already going full blast and I was too cold to eat it normally. So I put some scoops into a cup and stuck it in the microwave, and gave it a whole minute to bubble and liquify into goop. Then I drank it like a normal hot beverage. Thing is, now I can't stop doing this. It's just so good! I'm wondering if this is normal or not. I hope I haven't just joined the loony bin.

I always soften the ice cream in the microwave. You shouldn't have to work at getting the ice cream out of the carton. But I don't soften it to the point of being drinkable.

I microwave the whole thing just so I can get some scoops.

My teacher said he does that, I do as well. I mean really melted ice cream is just a milkshake. Trust me, you haven't checked in to Bedlam just yet. You're normal.
