Is it normal to meet people on facebook and youtube and become friends

This random guy who lives in Aussie from S.Korea invited me as a friend on my FB account I use for my YouTube subscribers. He asked me to help him learn English. Is that like weird? He said he was went to the Army but everybody has to go at some point in S.Korea. It isn't my real facebook with all of my personal info on it. It's for youtube and tumblr followers from around the world to add me.

P.S he's my only friend in the world right now. Is that normal?

    i try to not get personal with people on the internet because chances are they are just weirdies.. but i have made a few really good friends on here that i one day hope to meet and have a drink with.
