Is it normal to make expressive noises while eating?

Sometimes when enjoying my food I'll make expressive noises, like when people say "mmm" or "yummy" or "this is delicious!" But it's not really words, more like appreciative sounds (not quite "nom nom nom" wolfing down a burger extreme). However recently people have been staring or making comments. Some of my guy friends have even said it sounds like I'm making sexual sounds & have even asked me to stop because I'm turning them on. So am I weird?

It's normal, but can also be super uncomfortable for the people around you. My grandma makes sexual-sounding noises when she eats desserts and with me and my cousins it's always like, "Run awaaaaaaay! I don't need to hear this! MY EARS!" We literally flee the room.
I also like to make noise when I eat something particularly enjoyable, but I usually break it up into little "mm-mm-mm" noises so it doesn't make my fellow diners uncomfortable. At some point it turned into a little made-up tune my family calls my eating song, but it's only the full song when I'm REALLY digging the grub.
My advice is to just break up the moans into "mm-mm" noises. Or else make up a little song to hum. Good luck and happy dining.

You should've been here when I was eating that sweet potato with the butter. I was grunting. :D

Haahaha that is both adorable and understandable considering it was a sweet potato with butter

Why thank you, Shuggah! I guess we both know where its sweetness came from. ;) *blushes*
