Is it normal to make doomsday predictions?

On Youtube, I came across these videos stating that the new Doomsday is to be September 24th, 2015 (this year). Is it normal and do these people have any basis on their predictions? These are the same people who been making predictions eversince 2000.

To be fair, I want to make a doomsday prediction myself. Here it is: the true doomsday will be November 13th, 2028.

    Well, at least I get my 69th birthday on the 23rd. Whew!
    It is doomsday for thousands each day on this planet. Any prognostication of a planet wide doomsday is just someone seeking notoriety and only the feeble minded would pay any attention.
    Even if the mythical jesus christ came along and foretold doomsday, it wouldn't come true. However if I heard it from the richest person on the planet who had won every lottery they had played, then I might take notice. Otherwise it's just hogwash.
