The world is full of people who are fundamentally illogical, a lot of people are ignorant when it comes to sexual matters, and many guys (young guys, in particular) are extremely insecure about their sexual orientation. I bet most of those guys who freak out about even tasting their own semen have occasional, randomly curious sexual thoughts about other guys, and that's what's _really_ freaks them out.
But it's not only guys who are illogical about this. It's not that unusual for a woman to enjoy cunnilingus, but to have so many hangups about the "dirtiness" of her own vagina that she'll only allow a mouth that's licked her pussy near her own after a thorough face-washing and tooth-brushing session.
