Is it normal to lose this much weight ?

Basically I've been trying to lose weight and so far am succeeding . But I've been in like a weight loss plateau from late November 2011 till about last week . Dieting right and did not lose weight during that time . Last week I joined a gym and literally lost 6 pounds within the week . Is it normal ? I'm at 228 now . Was 234

The process usually starts with getting rid of the water weight, so often people see rapid progress at first. Others are working up muscle and thus see little change because of the development of stronger, heavier muscle. While the path to fitness varies among everyone, this is generally what I've gathered from coaches and success stories. Hope it helps!

Yes it is normal. Especially if you're burning more calories than you eat.

You've shocked your body with the sudden burst of energy, it was quite happy at your previous weight with the lack of exercise.
