Is it normal to lose this much blood and feel pain on a period?

I have regular periods (every 28 days/ month) but every time come on i feel a lot on pain like a non-stop cramp in my stomach and my lower back, i also tend to get bad headaches and feel dizzy/tired a lot of the time.

with the bleeding i use tampons (the super strongest ones) and i have to change these at least an hour... i wear a pad as well so it doesn't go though my clothing :/
this lasts for about 4 days then it calms down in total my periods usually last 8 days, just wondering is all this normal?

I'm a 17 year old girl and feel a bit awkward talking about it to anyone in real life, I just find it annoying/ am concerned that i use the strongest tampons available and have to change it so frequently, any thoughts or advice would help thanks :)

I would suggest seeing a gyno honey. They could make sure everything is fine & give you advice

Well, the dizziness and tiredness is normal. You're losing a lot of blood at once. Drink more water and that shouldn't be as bad. I know I get horrible cramps. Sometimes they're so bad I need to sit down and when I am sitting, I fear moving. I find this normal. Cramps are a part of the process. Do some research on the menstrual cycle. It's good to know what is going on in your body during this time. Also, some people naturally have a heavy flow, it's normal. They do make stronger tampons than the supers, extra super or something similar in name.

Over time your body may change and your periods may get lights. I know my body has changed a lot in the many years since puberty. I never used to get cramps until a few years ago. Just take some pain meds, drink water, and rest. Those are the only suggestions I can give. Oh, and bananas are supposed to help with the cramps as well. Hope this helped!

It sounds quite normal. Everyone has different periods.
Have you ever tried the pill? It may help a lot in your situation.

I'll leave this up to your fellow ladies to discuss as I'm a member of the penis brigade, but honestly... Is It Normal is not the best place to seek medical advice! Ask a doctor, especially a gynecologist!

Birth control is supposed to help regulate your period.

I suggest that you see a gyno to make sure that everything is okay. It wouldn't hurt, would it?
