Is it normal to look hideous in videos?

I did a test with my iPhone 5 camera where I stood about 10ish feet away from it and recorded myself for a couple of seconds.

I examined the footage and I look HORRID! I don't even look like a normal human being: I look like a fish with hair.

What is wrong!? I at least look NORMAL in the mirror, but in the iPhone camera I look like a frog crossbred with a gorilla....

    I feel you. I think I look fabulous in the mirror and people generally think I'm pretty, but pictures of me? NOPE.

    Videos and photo tend to show what you really look like to other people. Sorry but maybe you're just ugly.

    This is actually quite common. It doesn't happen to me though because I look good all the time, but to the proles, it can be quite troublesome.
