Is it normal to look at the worst case scenario ?

I'm a very posative person but at random times I think about horrifying gruesome things. Usually about someone dying or getting seriously hurt. The other day my grandma was driving me home and she was hitting the corner a little to fast and I just thought " what if someone was around the corner and t-boned us and the car flippes over and we die in the car?" almost everyday I imagine me or a person dying and it makes me cringe because it bloody and gory. Is this normal?

Sometimes, when I'm about to say something or to do something, I imagine the worst-case scenario that might happen to help me decide. Or sometimes I'm walking on the street and I trip on something but I don't even fall and continue to walk and I think about what would have happened if I had broken a leg.
For me it's normal, if it's not something that happens all the time..

  • Everyone occasionally will play the what-if game because we know that any small change in time would drastically alter it. I have, in many cases, imagined what my life would be like with or without certain people or things. Pretty normal, even if you're being drastic and over-specific.
