Is it normal to listen to really sad music?

Latley, I have been listening to really sad, and sappy music about break-up's, broken hearts, and what not. I don't know why I am listening to these sad types of music but i just like them, it's sort of a fetish I've grown myself inot. But the strange part is I didn't break up with anyone, or, well I have had my heart broken recently, but it's really bugging me. And whenever a dance, hip-hop, R&B, pop ect. song comes on, I quickly switch it to a sappy song. So I don't know if this is normal or not.

I'm the same way! I'm a very happy person, but even when I'm in the best of a mood, I lay back and listen to music that makes me cry

This is pretty normal. Many people deem certain songs as really sad or depressing, but if you like it then that's fine.

Very normal. Just depends on the mood you are in. So you've been a "listen to sad music" mood recently.

Next month, a couple of months or even a year from now it will be something different. Something refreshing, just like this is for you now. We all grow and encounter certain cravings for things along the path of life.

You're lucky it isn't something that's unhealthy. Like binge eating dog food.

Have a nice time listening to your harmless music.

Who knows why different songs appeal to us at different times. I have music that sometimes I can't get enough of, and sometimes it might as well be nails on a chalk board. The fact that all you want is sad music lately makes me think maybe you have some grief inside that's trying to get out. It's like when I'm feeling low, and a cloudy day sort of makes me feel better because it "matches" my feelings.

Normal. Just don't be whiny and say you're depressed.

Normal. I listen to songs, often based on my emotions. Years ago, I made a mixed tape titled "Depressing Music 2003." I've made sad mixed CDs since then. When I'm really sad/depressed, I pop in a CD and listen to all the sad songs.

It's normal, I tend to listen to different music based on my mood. If I'm sad I'll listen to sad songs and if I'm happy I listen to happy songs or I'll just listen in between. You're probably still sad over being heart broken but that's fine. You'll get over it eventually and when you do you'll be listening to happy songs! xD
