Is it normal to listen to music mostly all the time?

I listen to music basically whenever I can and I don't like silence.

The only thing worse than silence is near silence when the only sound is of a person that annoys me chewing or blowing their nose.

Would you rather have them perpetually sniffling because, for whatever reason, they are apprehensive to blow their nose? In my opinion, that is far worse.

I'd rather hear music or some ambient noise in addition to whatever their doing.

I abandoned the main office I worked in because it was too quiet. Even with 30+ people in the room, it's like an oppressive silence which actually becomes kind of tiring.

Now I'm in a little office with the radio on all day. Joy.

I can't stand to listen to it anymore. All I hear is the same music over and over until it drives me insane. I can't stand the thought of not being able to control the music that I am listening to either. I am so much into my own music nowadays that I just can't stand anything else honestly.

            Fair enough.

I pretty much only listen to BBC Radio 4 at work - there's no music on it, just various documentaries, dramas, news, a lot of pretentious rubbish but also some interesting stuff.

Sometimes I listen to BBC Radio 6, which is kind of indie rock music, and Absolute Radio 90s, which is (as its name suggests) music from the 90s.

I'm not sure how UK radio compares to US radio, but I avoid the majority of the commercial radio stations like the plague since I have the same aversion as you do to hearing the same shitty songs over and over (especially the crap that's in the charts). And radio ads... I hate ads.

Now see, that doesn't sound so bad listening to BBC 4 or 6...

I'll tell you about the stations that are somewhat noteworthy (if you can even say that about them). Where I live, we have one station that plays new rock music (100.3), another station that plays all rock music (99.3), and another station that plays classic rock music (94.1). There are a few other stations that play country, pop, or rap. None of which I am even remotely interested in.

100.3 sometimes plays good music, but it's so often riddled with generic crap that I can't stand it anymore.

99.3 plays all types of rock. Again with the generic crap overload.

94.1 is good sometimes, but they only play the 'hits' from classic rock. There's so much more great music by those awesome artists. I want to hear the music that I've never heard of before by them, not the same overplayed stuff that everyone's heard thousands of times...

There is another station that is like 88.1 or something. They play very obscure stuff. It's pretty much a hit and miss for me though.

The only other stations are on AM radio, and that's generally talk shows or gospel. I'm not that interested in either of those too much.

Right now, as I type this, I am listening to music by Pantera. If you're unfamiliar, they are a very well known heavy metal band that came to prominence in the 90's. I am listening to their first album 'metal magic' that was released in 1983, and I find it downright appalling that I've never heard anything from this album. This is really great music from them, but it doesn't get any attention at all because all the radio stations will play is the hits. It's angering to me. Who chooses what is played on the radio? Isn't there someone out there to fight back and force people to hear good curated music? All of the great music, not just some. That's what I want.

I would get a headache if i listened to music most of the time. I appreciate silence sometimes.

Totally normal. I'm the same. I listen to music for around 80% of my free time, only time I don't is when I'm talking to people.
