It all started when I met her at my grandpa's birthday party. My parents told me about my mom's cousin's step-daughter (so basically she is a 2nd cousin by marriage) when I first saw her, I instantly liked her. The next time I saw her was a year later at her brothers birthday party. I started to like her again. I once again didn't see her for an ebtire year. So I ended up seeing her again but this time it was different, now I go to the same school as her so now I see her everyday and I am always thinking about her. I told my mom and dad I like her and the response was "son I prefer you don't date her, at least as of when you guys are still in high school because it could get awkward and her dad could kill you if you do". Then my mom told her step-grandma (who is my great aunt) that I think she is pretty, she replies "well they aren't blood related" , my mom then says "well you know they're technically cousins right" and my great aunt says "well yeah". So anyway, is it normal?

    You are not blood related. She is no different than any other girl. It might look odd to some but there isn't anything really wrong in it. Many people have married their cousins and survived the whole experience.

      Nothing to do with marriage as far as I can see. The mother is talking crap, they're not blood related therefore not actually related to each other

      Wrong. Even genetic first cousins can marry anywhere in the United kingdom.
      Obviously there are no laws about more distant cousins or step-cousins, given the above.
