Is it normal to like your same-gender best friend?

Ok well We're both girls and it's not like I want to have sex (yuck!) but she's nice to me and we support eachother. My mom was Bisexual and creeped me out to no end until she moved away, and her mom is lesbian now. I have just ignored these feelings but i still cling to her arm and sit next to her all the time and she's a good person. Whether or not it's "lesbian" or "bi" I know I love her, as a friend.
So, Is this normal?

If you're not even at least a bit curious about her sexually, then chances are you are not gay. You have, however, found a very close friend, and should count yourself lucky. Not every relationship you have needs to fit into a friend-or-lover binary. Having a romantic but nonsexual relationship is perfectly normal for plenty of people.

I think it's normal in the presence of someone you love and appreciate so much to have fleeting feelings of attraction (if your straight) and profound passionate sexual feelings if your gay/lesbian

I talked to her, and she says she's fine with it. :D So I've come to the decision that I am NOT lesbian, but I DO love this one specific girl, and that technically, I'm going to be "in the closet" with my feelings for her.

Maybe you're right, I don't. I want to go my whole life WITHOUT being attracted to women, my mother being a big influince on that. I think it's only THIS girl, I've never been attracted to a girl before, but I wish that I didn't feel this way.

The thing is, she's straight, and I've been straight my whole life, too!

Your absolutely fine. It sounds like you found a soul-mate rather than a girlfriend ;-)
