Is it normal to like the effects of the pain pills i'm taking?

I'm currently taking pain pills for a recent surgery I had. But my pain has subsided and I still take the pills because I like the effects they have on me. Is this normal?

Unfortunately it is normal, and it's an addiction. I had a problem with this about a year ago. I kept taking the pills weeks after my pain was already gone. My boyfriend noticed and flushed them down the toilet. I was so pissed at him, but I realized he did it to save me. If you don't need them, don't take them. That's that. Good luck!

It sounds like you are forming an addiction which isn't healthy. Have you looked up the side effects for those pain killers? If not, please do as pharmaceutical drugs often have dangerous side effects. If you want something that kills pain, you can try switching to something herbal like White Willow. I've taken it before and it's rather gentle and it doesn't turn you into a zombie. Another thing is that if you are having money issues, the switch will more than likely be less costly and help you save.

Besides taking them for how they make you feel, is there another reason why you are continuing to take them? Like, using them to help "escape" from difficulties in your life?

that is addiction, I deal with it everyday and trust me you don't want to feel like me, I feel like I'm stuck and can't get out, I have a lot of pain and problems and have been prescribed these medications for over 9 years, I never felt like I actually had to have them until 2 yrs ago when I don't have them I'm uneasy and frankly lazy. I was such an upbeat person before all this that it saddens me to think of who I've become. you should stop while your ahead.

I occasionally take them for recreational purposes. If I had to take them every day for pain purposes I think I would get tired of that (because of the sick feeling. I have been prescribed them before) and look for other ways to deal with pain. If you only take them a couple times a month or something (not needing them, just wanting) you can enjoy that occasional warm, fuzzy feeling, make your last script last you a while and avoid getting addicted. You really need to taper off though because opiates (synthetic heroin) are very addictive and could eventually make you feel pains you shouldn't be feeling.

    • I sometimes dex out and see various colored worms all throughout my vision and when I close my eyes. I like butt sluts.

I went through the same thing. Had surgery, and religiously took the pain pills every 4 hours and didn't want to let up. I just wanted to be groggy and sleep all the time. Fortunately, I was able to ease off them on my own. I found that even though I still need more surgeries, I wasn't actually in pain. I luckily was able to get off of them within a week and even when I get some slight discomfort and pain I can get away with just a couple of Tylenol.
