Is it normal to like teaching myself

The reason I like teaching myself a topic (right now it would be Trigonometry with other things in mind) is because I understand how I am able to learn and at what rate I am able to process. I am pretty sure there are others out there but I do not know many.

I love doing that! Sometimes I go on "research expeditions" where I'll voluntarily research and write a short essay on something I want to learn more about. Not to mention that most of my education for several years came from YouTube. A lot of it still does. I owe a lot to Minutephysics and Numberphile.

Is it normal that when you find something interesting you want to learn more about it? Whether it's baseball or trig, it is normal.

I wish I had that kind of discipline, it would open up all kinds of new opportunities; instead I just stay in bed.

I think it's great that you've taught yourself this complex craft.
