Is it normal to like old stuff/times better then today's stuff?

I miss the past, even days before I was born, I like the anything to do with the past but hate almost everything about today's stuff. I hate todays music, (most of it is terrible in my opinion), hate today's times in general, like society.

I hate that no seems to give a crap about everything and everyone is so rushed now. also hate how most people can't spell right, now even my name!

I always like old times better especially the 90's becuase I grey up in the 90's. It'll take a long while to explain everything. Just the way everything was.

It seems like the more life goes on, the more it sucks.I'm 15, and I really care for old stuff, especially antique and stuff.

Yesterday, I was trying to get my laptop (which as Windows XP) to look like Windows 3.1 (which is what my dad had a long time ago).

Most people these days, especially around my age, don't give a crap. They just move on and like seem to like whatever new comes out.

And no one seems to care about grammar anymore. It annoys me with people spell things like "r u there?".

I try my best to spell words as best I can and have proper capitalization, to me, it looks a lot better.

    Hiya,

I do, mostly music. I do like modern music too, which makes life easier, but I tire of it quickly. I manage said problem by going to re-enactments and small folk concerts, and writing stories. I love it.

I did try to un-learn and un-like everything I liked but it was the most miserable time of my life. I got really ill and I’m sure that's at least some of the reason why.

The best thing is to not talk about it in front of friends that don't get it; you won't change their minds. Then pursue your old-fashioned interests when you aren't with them.

  • Good for you! I am the same way, except with computers. I play the MMORPG World of Warcraft because it was based off a time when education was valued. We need more people like you in these dark, ignorant times.

You're in a bit of luck my good sir or ma'am. There's a great subculture that blends the simple yet grande sensibilities of a bygone era, with the speed of modern times. May I present, Steampunk!

  • I like the sense of perspective you have, the appreciation for the past and its meaning in the present. I think if you look around, you will find groups who share your emerging interests in, for example, history, writing, music - interests that are well beyond the endlessly immediate consumerism. I think finding ways to support your values and interests is important because you seem pretty frustrated otherwise.

I love 'The Good Old Days' too, even though I'm still a bit too young to be saying that. I not only love the 70's and 60's (come on now, the threads back then were beyond fabulous)I'll take it even further back into the Victorian Age. I've always wanted to be 'The Angel of the Home' and be the Grand Lady I feel is sighing sweetly deep inside of me. I'm naturally gentle, quiet, affectionate and nice. I enjoy being this way. It makes me happy to be soft and feminine. All my friends tease me about in good nature but I can tell they don't get it. That kind of behavior isn't exactlly rewarded much these days. Listen, I'm so sure about my love for the Victorian in me that even the thought of taking out a rib to fit into one of those corsettes doesn't faze me. I mean, if that's what it took to go back in time and be a part of the Victorian Age! Now that's a bit abnormal! ;)

Totally normal. I often wish I could have lived in the 60s or 70s. Heck to be honest with you, I'd love to be one of those 50's housewives! :) But I am very old-fashioned!
