Is it normal to like having a super unique name?

I relish the fact that my name is highly unique as I have never found any character or celebrity with a name like mine.
I think it would feel awkward (to me, that is) to read my own name in a novel or listening to somebody on tv shouting my name. I would get teased. My sister has an extremely common name and she gets teased by my parents for it. (they picked the darn name!)
It's not the teasing, I'd just feel really strange about it, is all.

Is it normal to feel ULTRA happy about having a name that isn't common at all?

"My sister has an extremely common name and she gets teased by my parents for it."

    Wtf?

It's understandable that you like having a unique name, and one's name is tightly attached to one's identity, but you could also see a name as more or less just a man-made reference to a person, instead of something implanted at a christening, never to be removed.

In other words, names can be seen merely as words we use to refer to someone.

Someone, who knows your name, could copy it by changing their name to the same as yours.

    • it might sound very wtf-ish.
but my dad would tease my sister back when we were younger because a character in a movie had the same name as her. He'd look at her and say, look- he/she's calling out to you, (name)~~~.
      It's all good fun really.

I'm kinda jealous. My name is Kate and it's ridiculously common.

I'm not going to lie this is one of the most original IIN question that I have seen in quite a while. It makes sense why you'd feel unique cause literally it is something that not too many people, if anybody, has.

Completely get you on this. Very few people with my first name and it is still classy :)
