Is it normal to like a guy/girl who constantly made/makes fun of you?

I have a guy friend, when we were younger, he made fun of me a lot, but all of a sudden he started being nice and admitted he liked me, which was kind of shocking because I thought he hated me
I also have (had) a girlfriend (I don't know what's going on with her, she constantly avoids me) who makes jokes about me sometimes, saying how I'm really dumb and stuff, now it could be she has low self-esteem and degrades me to feel better about herself, but it still hurts...
What should I do? I'm really confused

    It is normal at different ages for many, most that act like this have a hard time showing their feelings for another and express them by aggravating or turning everything into a joke, some never mature!

    I never make fun of girls I don't like. It can be a form of flirting or just a defence reaction.

    I used to like a guy with whom i would fight all the time about everything. We hated each other... Well he hated me, lol. At somepoint i realised i liked him, and i'm pretty sure ge liked me too... I would sometimes find him staring at me or stuff like that. Sometimes we would stare at each other for a while and then look away. We almost never talked or anything. I still dislike him for never being brave enough to tell me, since he was a popular guy and I was just normal
    Sometimes people are just shy or awkward and find mocking you is the easiest way to get closer to you but still keeping a safe distance. This is completely normal ;)

    Go with the one you love more and if he/she makes fun of you, confront them
