Is it normal to like a guy far away but you think it won't work out?

Okay I have liked this guy since the end of camp this yr. ( this summer) and I told him that in the middle of October that I like him. Then he told me he liked me back too, then all of a sudden he stopped txting me, and I kind of got worried because it has been about a week. Well then 2, then 3. So I tryed talking to him on fb. Still no answer. Then I went on his info on fb, and it said he was in a relationship, and I got really upset. Finally I had the guts to say hi to him after a month later because I was in his home town because of my sisters ringette game. He said hey back and he said "sorry I havent talked to you in awhile cuz I got my phone taken away from getting into a fight". So that made sense, then we were talking about he had a gf, and they broke up etc. And he said he still likes me but I dont know if I should still like him.
Is this normal?? plz respond. (:

    I meet someone on holiday this year, he lives far awayyy.
    we began seeing each other and didnt mean to make it anything more than casual fun.
    We're now in a relationship and i've honestly never been happier :D Go for it!

    How can it not be? Depending on who you are, when you like someone, it may take awhile to wear off. And now that you are talking to him it's even more normal.
