Is it normal to let newborn babies look in the mirror?

Someone told me that it is bad luck to let babies without teeth to look in the mirror and they could die. I don't buy into the superstition. I thought allowing the baby to gaze at the reflection is good for development. I don't have kids, so I don't know.

Yea it's normal to allow a baby to look in the mirror and it is unlikely to kill or harm the baby.

Newborns cant see that far. More shapes and contrasts.

The act of looking in a mirror killing someone is fucking retarded. Why the fuck would you even give it a second thought?

It's ancient folklore. The idea that a soul can become trapped in a mirror (so if you break one, you break your soul and get 7yrs bad luck). People similarly warn against babies being allowed to look in mirrors or allowing uncovered mirrors in the house following a death (in case the soul is trapped).

Ahahahahahahahah. Ok, if that's a serious question it might freak them out for the time that they might remember. But im sure if you explain to them (when appropratie) that they now have normal teeth comin through and why, it will be fine :)

That's the only thing I remember when I was a baby, well more of a toddler. I always remember my reflection in the mirror. I don't remember how old I was or where the mirror was. I just remember how I stared into my own eyes. That's one of the reasons I always hated my childhood. I can't remember a thing.

They actually make little mirrors for babies. Babies love mirrors. But why would no teeth be a problem, plenty of people who aren't babies have no teeth.

People says this here too, old people but as you can assume the younger generations don't buy this crap but I'll never tell a senior he's wrong about something that hurts nobody.
