Is it normal to let go of most of your friends?

I'm only a 19 year old guy. Only in the early days of college.

I have (had) a really tight knit bunch of 5 guy friends from high school. These are pretty much my only close friends. In recent times, however, I fell out with one of them.

For a few months I started to grow apart from all of them as a result - they would hang out with him - but still had fairly regular contact.

I'm a stubborn person and it's now pretty much at the point where I move on and let go with the very few friends I have or swallow my pride and build bridges. They're not bad people and we have lots in common, but I do find them immature.

I guess I'm asking: is it normal to cut loose so quickly from the people who have been your best friends for so long?

Yeah, it's part of growing up and taking different paths. Same thing happened to me. Now that we're much older and more settled, we've come back together. That said, assuming you're parting ways with class and not being a jerk to them.

Yeah, I've had the same experience this year and pride's been fucking with me all year long, but u know what? Fuck them!
I had two friends like this, we were BBFs for three years but after sth like that I moved on. Thankfully I'm pretty awesome at making friends. I still think about them, but u know, life's a bitch, I'll probably grow out of it someday.

So 4 out of the 5 you have departed on good terms.
    Lucky you.

Its all part of growing up. People grow apart, even when you think you'll be friends forever. You're going to make new friends in college and likely grow apart from some of them too. All you really need to worry about is making the most of your schooling.
