Is it normal to learn a lot of valuable lessons on this site?

I have learned a lot of valuable things on this site ever since I stumbled upon it out of curiosity a year or so ago. So I wonder if I am the only one. Vote normal If you learned a lot of VALUABLE things from this site(we all know you learn plenty of useless shit).

  • Some valuable things I have learned are :

-how different things make different people happy

-relationship advice. Either from peoples advice that they comment and also what to AVOID based on bad situations people post about.

-an improved understanding if sexuality based on the things about it that people would never share irl.

the best advice i ever saw on this site was to stick some folded tp in your butt cheeks before you go to bed during your period to prevent leaking around the pad, no joke it works 100% and I still use that idea to this day.

Hahahaha not really, but I guess I could see it if you're good at picking out the shiny baubles from a trash pile. It's nice that you took something positive from here, though. I've seen SOME great advice on this forum.

Yeah, it is a small percentage no doubt. But I have had plenty of time on my hands so I read quite a bit. Some people also get really good at giving advice from being on here so long. People such as boojum, Rose cuntsiclestick all give great advice and have lots of expirience. I am OP BTW.

Oh, you're definitely right about that. Boojum gives really intelligent & well thought out advice & I fucking love cuntsicle. There's lots of other great users as well & i see good advice on here all the time.

I've also seen really toxic & nasty stuff too though, and sometimes the people who ask for advice aren't exactly...mentally healthy, so I worry that they'll take the bad stuff to heart. I guess I just think of it as a mixed bag.

I'm glad you've had good experiences on here though! I like you, so I'm glad you've found the good in our little dysfunctional community.

I personally ONLY take life advice from donteatstuffoffthesidewalk.

There are others that give good advice also, just tjose three common ones come to mind. Funny thing is, I don't mind a lot of the weird ass shit on here. A lot of it is hilarious and should not be taken to seriously. Some stuff sounds serious where poeple have issues though, which is concerning. You are totally right about the mental health thing also, overall, this site has a lot of weird characters a lot of whom aren't totally with it. The good news is that I am starting to get a handle on who I should trust and take seriously and who I should not.

100% agree & I love the weird stuff too. I know I'm a little weird & that's ok. That was supposed to be the original intent of the site, to answer questions about uncomfortable things & maybe help people realize that being weird is ok. I mean some of it is off the wall, but it's usually funny.

I've been a member here for a long time. Right now, this site is generally a positive place. I've seen it get extremely toxic, though. For example, there were a few years where it was taken over by "incel" types who hate women. So a post like

"My boyfriend got drunk & hit me, but promised never to do it again"

That would be met with about 20 comments about how that's perfectly ok & normal, about how that should be socially acceptable in relationships because women are incapable of rational thought, about how it was probably her fault.

I found reading that stuff really disturbing & heartbreaking because that was probably a person who genuinely needed advice & support.

So...this site cycles. You will see awful advice & toxic comments. It can make you really, really shitty with this website.

Right now, it's good & as you said, there's a lot of positivity. The best thing we can do is try to high five that. Tell people you like their comments. Encourage the good people to stay. I think that when this site is good, there are many people that genuinely listen & care & give great advice, and that is nice to see.

Yeah, I have heard about times in the past where this site was shitty. I hope positive reinforcement is slowly improving the state of things, but well see.
