Is it normal to laugh when you're in pain?

I just sliced my finger this morning opening a can, and had to go get stitches. All throughout I didn't freak, remained calm, and my friend drove me to the hospital. When they started clearing away the mess, and messing around with the wound it hurt like whoa, but I ended up laughing rather than cringing or anything. I've always had a high pain tolerance, but I've never laughed or anything before. Always kept silent and taken deep slow breaths. It was the strangest thing ever. So I guess what I'm asking, is laughing a normal reaction to such an event?

Yes. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, a disabled arm, and a permanent neck strain due to whiplash from a fall. Whenever my finacee rubs out the pain I laugh cause it helps.

I either laugh at my pain or pain in others. It's normal, but some people may find you "odd".

Laughing releases endorphines, so yes, it's like the body's built in pain-relief.

I do this to. It kind of sucks because it makes the pain come in stronger. I don't know what causes this though.
