Is it normal to laugh at horror scenes in movies?

Sometimes I have an irrepressible need to laugh at campy horror films. Cliches like some woman running through a forest wearing high heels while leather face chases her with a chainsaw I find hysterically funny. Usually,if I can forecast the end result, I am either really bored or I find it amusing. Am I strange? I remember reading somewhere that Hitler used to get his kicks laughing at the horrible parts of movies.

I sometimes do this too. I think it's because I just know that they're fake. I mean, knowing that it's all fake doesn't make it scary at all.

You are normal. I do the same. Sometimes the ideas that people come up with and the way that they go about displaying these ideas through movies is silly. But, there normally is more substance to a movie than just its silliness.

  • Enough about Hitler. He's been dead for 60(?) years I think we can let him go now :) Besides if my history recalls Hitler enjoyed Mickey Mouse cartoons and horror movies were frowned upon in the 30's and 40's.

I don't think you're strange. Some horror movies are so bad they can be funny lol

I laugh at most painful scenes in films. For instance, I couldn't stop laughing on black swan:P

    I say that it's normal.

NO It is not normal. To all the people that answered yes. You are either Mormon or come from a bloodline of inbreed imbeciles. If you are bored of the movie walk out of the theater instead of ruining the movie for everybody else. Your attempts to mask your fear are very annoying. Try watching a scary movie by yourself. If you don't laugh you have just proved that you only laugh to show other people that you are not scared. Which makes you look weak and retarded.

I don't really laugh at horror movies unless they are totally moronic. I haven't seen one yet that scares me. Even all the Saw movies. I usually have to go alone to the movies to see them because everyone I know gets scared.

I think you, me and TyLee watching horror films would just be a blast. I've never met anyone who finds them as funny as I do.

Lol! I have to be careful who I watch them with, I remember going on a first date to watch Saw 3 and laughing hysterically all the way through...that little romance didn't last long.

Me too. I almost got punched because the guy in front of me was consoling his girlfriend (who was terrified) and I'd got to the point where I couldn't control myself any more. I was howling with laughter and was just reduced to hooting "woo hooooo hooo" with tears running down my face.

There was someone in the film whose only scary move was that he could flap his head really quickly and every time he flapped his head at someone, I went into hysterics. Eventually someone complained and the cinema management came and got me and the girl I was with (who was majorly embarrassed). I had to sit outside until I calmed down. At least fifteen minutes later, when we headed back in, old flappy was at it again and I just broke down straight away and never even got as far as my seat. Didn't get to see the end of that film but it was worth the ticket price for the laughter alone.

Lmao awwwww I would have loved that!!! It's terrible isn't it, no matter how many people tell you to shut up you can't help but laugh- I got kicked out of Paranormal Activity, and I get horribly excited when I see people in pain in Saw, I am surprised I haven't been banned from the cinemas yet!!

lol, it's so much worse when people tell you to shut up. I tried to stop laughing and then snorted and then started laughing again at the sound of me snorting. I thought I had it under control but then I had to spit Fanta on the floor because I couldn't swallow it. And, aww, I never even got into Paranormal Activity. No-one would go with me. They knew what'd happen. I'm a horror pariah!

On a different note, it's nice to meet a fellow crazy. I was beginning to think I was the only one! :)

All horror makes me laugh. Or bores me. It tells you what's going to happen before it even happens.
