Is it normal to know uk names and i am not from uk?

I'm not sure how but I know a lot of cities that are located in the UK. Just by hearing the name. I am not even from UK. I actually think I know more UK names than from my own country.

    Phrases designed to sound as British as possible without using real placenames but without checking to make sure I don't use a real one by mistake: West Dudley Borton old chap!     Where are you from? UK gave place names to many (English speaking) countries. Maybe that's why they seem familiar.
