Is it normal to kiss your first cousin once removed?

About a year ago there was a family gathering around easter, at my dads farm house. My uncle, my aunt, my dad, my sister, her friend, my 3 1st cousins once removed and a couple other relatives were there. I had met them before but when i was like 9. For a while i thought we were all 2nd cousins but aparently my kid would be their 2nd cousin, which makes him my 1st cousin once removed. It was normal for a while until one day i was doing my make-up in the bathroom and he came in to take a shower. My aunt was with him so nothing happened but he was smiling at me all weird. As time went on we were spending more time together and seperating ourselves from everyone else. Until one night we all (my sister, her friend, and the 3 guys) decided to go hang out side. We were out there for a half an hour before a couple got scared and they went back inside leaving me and him alone. We stayed outside for hours just talking until i fell asleep in his arms. When i woke up we ran back to the house and everyone was asleep, one of his brothers was sleeping in my bed so i just slept in the room with him. Everything was fine and we spent the rest of spring break hanging out together. Eventually we started holding hands and spending more time alone, we exchanged numbers and then when he went back home we continued to text. He lives pretty far away so we don't see eachother often. Although that week made everyone kind of suspicious, my dad talked to me and my aunt (his grandma) talked to him. Then we just stopped talking.
When summer came around it was time for us to go visit them (although we were staying at my aunt and uncles house). I was kind of nervous to see him agian, because i wasn't sure what was going to happen. When we got there i heard him talking to my aunt that he really wanted to come over. However when i saw him he gave me the cold shoulder, it was a little upsetting and i ended up calling him that night. We talked it over and both agreed that it was stupid and we should just act cool. Everything was going smoothly for the most part, but then me and my sister went to spend the night at their house. We ended up all going night swimming and when they got too tired we were left alone again. We were both flirting alot, and i was convinced nothing was going to happen. As i was getting out he pulled me back in and we started to kiss. Then we said we wouldn't tell anyone and went inside. After i left to go home, we started texting again. It was pretty strong flirting for a couple months and then it died down and we haven't talked since. I'm not going to see him for awhile, maybe not till summer. We both have our own relationships and neither of us want to date or anything. I can't really talk to anyone about this because its a little weird.
All i'm wondering is if its normal to have feelings for your 1st cousins once removed? I've heard of 2nd cousin things but is it that much worse with us? I'm not sure what to do and i want to know if anyone has been in my same situation. What if it starts up agian when i see him? I feel like 1st cousins once removed is so much worse... Is this normal?
