My dog just ate nearly a dozen placentas a few days ago. I touched them. I did not eat them.

  • There was talk of eating it - I think more jokingly than anything else.

It's somewhat normal to keep a placenta, meaning it's not common in Western culture but there's also nothing abnormal or wrong about doing it. I've heard of it being kept frozen, I've heard of people planting a tree and putting the placenta in the ground w/ the tree roots, and I've heard of it being eaten. Many other mammals usually eat their placenta to avoid detection from predators and because it's nutritious, humans may or may not have done this in the distant past but these days there is a few who consider it a delicacy or do it as a ritual. I *think* there's some cultures who use human placenta in traditional medicines but I'm not sure.
