Is it normal to keep dying my hair until i get the color i want?

ok so this is mostly like an advice... my hair color is black. a month ago i dyed it a light golden brown. this wednesday i dyed my hair. i wanted to have a red violet so i dyed it a 4rv which is dark brown red violet. it came out too dark. then on thursday i used the box from fereria and it was a chocolate cherry, my hair got a bit shiner, but still dark. Can I just use a light brown red violet (6rv) or do I have to bleach my hair? is this damaging my hair? (the method without using bleach and dying it too much)

Dying your hair that many times can slowly destroy your hair. As the user Dad said, give it a few months to recover. Let some new hair grow in. If you must use bleach to remove the color then use a deep conditioner. If that does not work, then you should get it done at a salon.

    Hiya,

I dye mine blue-black/purple – I did dye it red but red fades so quickly I stopped. Black/purple doesn’t take so much upkeep. My hair was starting to get straggly so I had it cut short and much prefer it that way.

omg no! dont do that in excess no. what you are basically doing errtime u dye is "peeling" your hair cuticle with ammonia to reach the root to deposit color. but if u keep on peeling the cuticle over and over you will damage it! It will come out lookin like straw and hay

not only that but ur also damaging the keratin in your hair when u keep on throwing all these oxidizing chemicals in it

let ur hair breathe let it recover...if u must at least let it grow n do the roots only....take biotin..that helps hair grow...and deep condition it..!!!!

    Ka-peesh?

Constantly dyeing your hair will damage it. You must take a break and let the follicles rejuvenate. Go to a professional so they'll be able to bleach and dye your hair right on the first time.

Please just stick with your natural hair color. Honestly, no one cares what your hair looks like. It's yourself that needs fixing. You sound insecure, try to fix that.

I used to dye my hair a lot and there's no way to get your hair a different color when it's black just by using another dye. You'll have to bleach it...or I used "hair dye remover" which must've just been bleach too I suppose. Anyways, Good luck.

I do this all the time- I change my hair color weekly sometimes when I'm using temp colors. Though in my case, I'm not usually trying for a specific color and just like changing it up. :) It is best to give your hair some time off (and a few deep conditionings) between permanent dye jobs, and definitely be careful with bleach! That stuff can seriously mess up your hair! If you're trying really hard to get a specific color, maybe have it done professionally the first time to cut down on time, expense, and risk to your hair.

Both of your hair (ie + Yumazing as well) must feel like straw?
Stop dyeing your hair for a few months to let it start living again.
MOST guys like the natural look. But running your hands through straw may not be a good turn on for them.

    Ooh yes! Absolutely normal!

Before I had my kids I was always changing my hair colour...red, purple, black...then I settled with henna to acheive that red tone I was after.

I have sort of brown-y red-y black-y mouse coloured hair, so not as dark as yours - but still pretty deep.

I couldn't ever get bright red hair (the shade I wanted) with any brand, even really strong ones, so I gave natural henna a try. It isn't really bright, even now, but I love it.

As you have black hair, though, it's going to be hard to get really bright colours! Shame. Bleaching may not be the best option as ot dries your hair out completely, makes it feel and look like dusty straw!

You could try putting the palest blonde colour on your hair, not for the shade - but that might lighten your hair enough to bring out a ciolet red colour. Then, after you've done that, you could apply the brightest red colour you can find, and because your hair will always be slightly black, a violet shade may be the last result.

However - one last word of advice - I would personally suggest quitting dying your hair at all: an ingredient known as p-phenylenediamine (PPD) and related compounds which are proven to be toxic. The 'p' stands for para, but the are several other types of phenylenediamines used in dyes. They are well known potent skin-sensitisers, and in the words of the EC Scientific Committee on
Consumer Products, PDD is linked to an increased risk of various forms of camncer, including bladder cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myloma, leukaemia, ovarian cancer and possibly breast cancer.
Chances are, hair dyes are carcinogenic, according to Professor Samuel Epstein - founder of the Cancer Prevention Coalition and one of the world's most knowledgable scientists on the risks of environmental chemicals (hair dye).

Ultimately it's up to you - but I felt I should say something, just as a precaution - and a warning.

Good luck, and remember - any advice, feel free to reply or send a message via my profile!

    xx
