Is it normal to injure yourself in such a way while you are asleep?
Something strange has happened to me... A few hours ago, about one or two, I tried to boil some water for my tea only to smell a strong stench of something burning. I ran downstairs and I found the culprit on the stove eye, somehow a spatula's plastic handle had been melted. I quickly opened the door, turned on the A/C and tried to diffuse it by adding a little water. During this whole process, I inhaled quite a bit of the fumes. At some point I went upstairs into my room because I was trying to find a room with "pure" air. Well, the air wasn't entirely pure. There were concentrated areas that still had the lingering stench of the plastic. I put my nose underneath my shirt and ended up taking a nap...
Things got strange at this point. I remember faintly being in a deep dark slumber and feeling intense pain. Then, I woke up sometime shortly to find a throbbing, numbing pain in my right hand. I looked down at it and near the wirst was a discoloured area in the shape of a thin line and in that thin line, at the source of the discolouration, was a thinly lined but deep depression. Of course, I was scared and I rushed down to my mother to consult her. At that point there was a tingly sensation in the tips of my fingers and it was still very painful. Panicked, I asked my mother what was wrong and whether or not my hand would have to be cut off. She calmly told me "no" and that I must have somehow cut off circulation to my hand. She told me to keep moving my hand, which I did, but it didn't really get better until I had some sparkling water. The depression filled in and the discoloration started to go away but what was left is a raised bump that at first had the outline of a fingernail's edge. I ended up going back upstairs.
At this point my hand still hurts. Its very painful, uncomfortable and feels stingy and hot in certain areas. The bump is still there. I'm baffled at how this might have happened. It doesn't seem logical for me to fall asleep with my left hand holding my right at an angle and a nail being dug into the right's flesh. While I don't think I witnessed it, I do remember the feeling of posture.
Is this normal?!
