Is it normal to imagine that your friends are in the room with you?

I am 19 years old and when I feel really lonely I imagine my friends are in the room with me. I even have full on conversations with them . I get so deep into the imagination that it almost feels like they are actually there is this normal?

That's actually a little sad, that you feel so lonely. At least you have actual friends you can visualise into your space, or do the friends not exist either? Perhaps call some friends over - real ones that is?

My real friends all left me alone they don't want to no me anymore but it's not my fault I just over thought things a lot and felt constantly paranoid that they hated me which actually drove them away

Sounds like an anxiety disorder drove your friends away. Being a friend to a person who spends half their time believing they are hated by everyone for "imaginary things" is exhausting. I like to help people, but ive cut off some who were like this.

The only thing I can suggest is get some help for the anxiety disorder, then make new friends. Sorry, I really wish I could say "take this pill and say this 3 times and your problem will be solved", but you are looking at a long road ahead, and most of it you will be alone for.

I dunno how normal it is, but it sounds like you're awful lonely sometimes. I think it's normal to be lonely.

I dunno if it's the same thing, it's probably entirely different to be honest, but when I'm scared or just walking alone at night I imagine a big, beautiful mountain lion walking by my side. I know she's not really there, but the thought of her walking by my side on leash comforts me so much that I can walk straighter, prouder and with more confidence. My imaginary big cat gives me strength and courage.

Interesting. I never thought of you as a person who would leash their mountain lion. I always had you pegged as a "roam free proud huntress" type.

Just goes to show, everyone is different than what you think they are.
