Is it normal to imagine having a penis during masturbation?

I am an 18 going on 19 year old female. I have been openly gay with my family and friends for several years now.

When I masturbate I imagine being with a woman, however my mind wanders to having a penis..

It's strange for me, not to sound conceited, but I am a farely attractive female (i say this in the sense that i am feminine) and am entirely comfortable with my gender. I do not want to "be" a man.

And i am not sexually attracted TO men. I do not find penetration pleasurable, and have no sexual desires towards the male body.

However, I have noticed that when I masturbate (without porn) I will unintentionally imagine that I have a penis, and am stroking it against a woman's body.

I am very self conscious about this, so I haven't confided in anyone, do any other women do this!?

    Not that it matters but I am also a straight female so it has nothing to do with orientation either.

    I do this often. I suspect it's penis envy as opposed to a desire to actually become a male. I guess I've always felt that something is lacking when it comes to female sexuality. The idea of laying back and just "taking it" doesn't really do much for me. There are no sensory nerves inside the vagina either so there is no pleasure there. I've always wished that I either had an abundance of sensory nerve endings inside my vagina or that I could have a penis just so I can penetrate and fuck things, for lack of better terms. I guess I'm just tired of feeling that my sexuality as well as my sexual anatomy is very... passive.

      While it's true that the clitoris is far more sensitive, the vagina does have nerves inside. Ever heard of the g-spot? It's right on the upper wall, and stroking it is very intense. But to answer the OP's question, I've done the imagining thing too. I'm curious what it would be like to have a penis, but I'm definitely happy being a woman.
