Is it normal to imagine crashing into a car while on the road?

Firstly, this isn't anything suicidal. It's just that sometimes (and randomly) while I'm driving I'll start to think about what it would be like if I just slam into that car in front of me or swerve into something. I picture it. I think it's the fact that in that second I realise that us drivers have a lot of power when we are holding that wheel, and could end our lives or others' at any time if we wanted to. Their fate is in my hand, and vice versa. It's scary. I usually forget that bit, so when I remember, it scares me and I'm relieved once the drive is over. Thoughts?

Yeah I get the same feeling when driving sometimes and I agree with the reasoning behind it.

Ever since an accident I had a few years back, I feel the same way. People under-estimate how much raw power is involved in something as simple as driving. I personally hate how car-makers have made the insides of cars feel so safe, and almost cushy, when in reality, you can die or kill in less than a second...

I have a freind who drove most times, and was a horrible driver. Mostly because he was so careless about hitting other cars in parking lots. He never admitted it, but I'm sure he did it mostly on purpose.

I used to wish for cars slamming into the side of mine while driving. Now, I try not to think about it amd just try to focus on other things.

I'm not sure if I'd say it's normal, but it isn't uncommon, either. It's good that you are cognizant of the risks of driving. As long as you do not actually feel the urge to crash the car, you are probably fine.

That's what grand theft auto (the video game series) is for... it relieve the stress, but playing it too much might make that feeling stronger...
