Is it normal to hold back while fighting in a dream

This has been happening for as long as I could remember. I go to bed, start dreaming and if for some reason or another I end up in a fight my punches don't connect. They either stop right in front his face or they curve just before they hit him. Then I wake up angry because I feel like I just lost.

Is it just me or is it normal?

I read something about this recently. It has to do with the way your brain paralyzes your voluntary muscles when you're asleep. In you're dream you're getting incomplete feedback from being unable to move your limbs. In the same way, you might've had a dream where you were chasing or being chased but your legs felt like lead and you could barely move.

I've had those dreams before. Mostly though, I do connect but when I connect I don't feel like I'm hitting them hard enough. I struggle using all my might to break their face and its just not enough. Ugh, I hate those dreams! I wake up wanting to hit someone for real just so I can see some results lol, I might have some issues.

  • I really hope so because I hate it when I get in to fights with this girl I don't like in my dream and I'm punching and all I do is like tap her in the face with my fist -_-!!

Yes yes yes yes! I know exactly what you mean! It feels like you're not doing any damage to them no matter how hard you try. Almost like your arms are tied back and you keep missing their face. I feel as if I'm a slow fighter in dreams. I actually feel a sense of relief when I wake up but I always pray that it doesn't happen for real! But yeah I get dreams like that so I guess its normal
