Is it normal to hide my singing ability?

I love singing,I have all my life but I've a problem. I can sing perfect and in tune when I'm on my own, but the second someone is watching/listening , my voice just goes completely wrong. Like, people have over-heard me singing before and ranted that I should be auditioning for shows or different talent competitions, but when I tell them my problem they laugh and say "Ah sure it's just stage fright you'll get over it", but I can't! It's been years and I still have the same problem. Is this normal or is there something wrong with me? And if you have any advice tell me please?

Do it more, maybe you just need to get used to it.

I would just perform for someone like once a week, close friend or family. You will overcome it trust me. Sing in front of the mirror, post videos and sing in public or with someone.

i play guitar, and i didn't use to play anything right when someone started listening ;D

    these days it's better.
just sing in front of people more, to gain more confidence.

Maybe you should just start by singing in your room when you know other people can hear
