Is it normal to hear voices during sleep paralysis?

Just want some feedback of a couple experiences ive had during SP. About four years ago I used to get SP pretty frequently and during these episodes this mans voice would just talk rapidly seemingly right next to my ear. It was like whatever he wanted me to hear was very urgent and important but me being scared shitless feeling helpless and completely vulnerable Id never listen. I would breathe heavily just to block out the voice until I awoke. Another couple of times I would hear this violent screaming as if something was angry with me for being in that mind state/dimension like I wasnt supposed to be there or something. Thats what I felt. Also different times I remember twice hearing a music box jingle before I would wake up. Im familiar with auditory hypopneic hallucinations and these experiences just feel different from them.

Well I know firsthand that yes, experiences like this can be terrifying. However, they are only as scary as you allow them to become. As long as you are aware that the voice or other hallucination is not real, you are the one in control because ultimately your hallucinations are a part of you. I know that can be a bit of an odd way to think of it at first, but it's true, I experience this stuff on a nightly basis so I know what it can be like trust me

  • I get that sometimes, sort of. I have never been freaked out by it or anything. Once I get that its all in my head, it doesn't bother me. It isn't like that at all for me either, for me, its just random ass shit or just people saying things. That must be kind of scary if you have this and believe in things like astral projection and stuff. Trust me, if you stop believing in weird crap like that it will keep your issues with this from being scary. I used to be like that too, reading about alien abduction and astral projection and just weird, out there things like that and when I stopped and realized that all that stuff isn't real the things you hear/see in that state are not scary anymore

Yeah I had very similar experience, but it was a result of medication I was taking. Didn't know it was sleep paralysis until a year later.

From what I've read, it's common. Very unpleasant and terrifying, but common none the less.

Ive had sleep paralysis a couple of times, and Ive never heard voices while im paralyzed. However I have woken up to the sound of a voice talking in my ear, like a loud whisper (if that makes sense) and it stops right when im totally awake. As if that voice is talking to me while I sleep and stops when Im awake.

It sounds amazingly unbelievable I've not personally experience anything like it but maybe it's like a half dream state? If it happens still maybe tell a Doctor not coz there's something wrong with you but maybe something wrong with your sleep if it is a sleep thing and you're having it regularly

I know picking up radio signals on metal fillings is an old myth, but darn it all if I fall asleep to different radio station-esq programming just about every night.

I think there might be some level of credibility behind that old myth.

Who knows. It could just be your mind playing tricks on you but I still believe we can cross over to different planes, intentionally or not, and can run into whoever's over there. I read a story about a woman who astral projected and would meet people, sometimes they didn't want her around like you said.

I'm not an expert, but I've heard that this is very common. Apparently it accounts for a ton of alien abductions. I'd definitely see a psychiatrist, though, especially considering how scary that could be. Hope everything works out!
