Is it normal to hear everything my neighbors do?! (townhouse)

I live in a townhouse and i dont know if our new neighbors are loud or is it just that they have no furniture and therefore everything they do echoes. I mean i can hear them carry on full conversations as if they were in the room with me! The worst is that i can hear their squeeky door open and then slam shut! Like a haunted house! And the constant thumping on the walls.

Its is highly annoying. I feel i can get no peace and constanly have to have the tv or radio up just combat the noise. And on friday nights it sounds they have 50 people over and theyre all talking at once! Like the Jerry Springer show without the audience.

To put i bluntly we did have some low class people move next to us but Am I being too sensitive to noise? I would confront them about it, but i theyre drunk most of the time with kids in the house. (how do i know? When they empty their garbage its nothing but beer bottles! As if they eat no food)

Make a huge loud scene that ends with what sounds like you killing someone. The next day carry out a rolled up carpet. See how they respond.

They're probably on here complaining that their neighbor plays terrible music 24/7. ;) Sucks that the walls are so thin, and your neighbors probably are naturally loud to make it worse. I think you have three options: Option one: Talk to them about it. You will be taking a chance that they may react with anger, and that's not good. But what if they are understanding and make an effort to be less noisy? Option two: Tell your landlord (if you are renting). But they'll no doubt know you complained, as it's clear to them that the walls are thin, too. Option three: Move. This sounds like a real pain. Good luck.

LOL that last bit reminds me of what former neighbors said
about me and old room mate. it doesn't sounds like they're doing anything excessive like partying every night all night long. they're just doing every day living. so if it bothers you this much, then maybe it's time to move.
