Is it normal to have your bed on the floor?

I just moved in with my boyfriend. I have a pretty expensive tempurpedic bed and frame with header and footer. He wants to put the bed and box springs directly on the floor. He said it is a cultural thing. I dont want to argue about it but is this normal?

He is Vietnamese. When we went to his parents house all their beds are on the floor too, even in the guest bedroom.

Is this normal???

    I guess it is normal for him, since it's his culture. But if you don't want the bed to be so low to the floor, tell him you don't want it on the floor. I don't see why he would make a big deal out of it. He's a complete asshole if he won't let you keep it on it's legs.

    More than half the worlds population do it. Westerners just got fed up with the cockroaches and bed bugs and mice and rats galloping over them at night..so they invented the raised bedstead.

    its un comfortobale in my oppinion my beds on the floor to i think it messses with u if it was up to me the world would have bunk beds the higher you are the better you sleep
