Is it normal to have white gunk in your scalp??

Only comment if you know about dreadlocks -_-' I don't want any ignorant people commenting like they always do when it comes to dreads. Annnyways, I've had my dreads for almost 5 months now, but I've noticed that there's nasty whitish, yellowish stuff that builds on my scalp. When I scratch my head, it gets under my finger nails. It's almost liquidly. It's gross. I wash my dreads once or twice a week but no matter how well I wash it, it doesn't come off. I've read about using deep clean method using the baking soda and tea tree oils to wash them. Would that get rid of it?? Am I the only 'dreadie' that this has happened to?

    Dandruff?

I don't have roots, but I know people that do. Dandruff is the only thing I can think of.

There are many reasons why you might get white gunk in your dreads and on your scalp.

While dreads are locking, washing your hair is critical.

Don't use conditioner (Unless its DreadHead)

Dry your hair properly and don't wrap it while its wet.

Rinse your dreads thoroughly after washing.

You should buy DreadHead shampoo. Its unscented and it doesn't leave residue behind in your hair.

I suggest doing some more research online about dreads too because dreads take patience if you want them to be decent.

I cut off my dreads 4 years ago. I had them from age 6-15.

Maybe you shouldnt have dirt locks then. Try a better alternative like a normal fuckin hair cut.

What's wrong with her/him having dreads?

Dirty dreads is just a idiotic stereotype.

Well you can either 1) go to doctor because it might be something else or 2) cut them off wash your hair every 4-5 days and then grow them back , but ^^ what they said about DreadHead you might can get , I dont have dreds but I know people who have them and went through this.

Douse your head in acid. If symptoms persist, cut your head off.

Do the deep clean method, there's no need to cut them off or anything, ignore anyone who has said that. I don't have dreads personally but I dread people's hair for them. :)

If your getting shit on your head I think that's a sign you don't need them to make an individuality statement.
Or you can do what your hippie friends are saying :)
