Is it normal to have trouble affording food?

Hi! I'm wondering how many of you have trouble affording food?I have trouble affording basic food on a regular basis. I often have little in my house and almost never buy meat or certain fresh expensive foods like berries so I usually buy cheap stuff like pasta and canned veggies. Even cereal is expensive. I also have a hard time between food and things like laundry detergent and paper products. I recall some of my relatives having whole pantries and freezers packed with food but that was at least 10 years ago.
This is meant to be a serious post so please be honest when voting but the usual silly comments otherwise welcome.

Seriously. How about getting a roommate to help pay the rent?
Do you have the time for a second job? When I visited Israel, almost EVERYONE had a second job because everything was so expensive there. I was offered a good job, but I never would have been able to save enough to sail away if I took it. Better to go, short on funds.
Do you have any talents you might sell, such as writing articles for publications (or whatever equals that on the web) about things you are accomplished at?
Of course, I know nothing beyond what you posted, but you may need to find cheaper accommodation.
There are government assistance programs to insure that Americans have enough healthy food to survive on. You could see if there are programs you can qualify for, especially if you are a student.
    Good luck.

First should come a detailed income:expenses report. Track every penny earned and spent. A roommate or second job isn't going to help if you're a fool with money and don't stick to a budget. Most people don't realize how much they waste until they track expenses and see it in black and white.

      Seconding this.

Also consider what you do with the money you spend on things which aren't bare necessities.

I'd tell you ANYTHING to get you off this site forever, so yeah, I'm a jue, living in someone's attic, playing with my rubber ducky in the bathtub, which I call the Caribbean Sea. Every now and then this wee volcanic island appears right in front of my belly, but after it erupts, it sinks below the sea again.
Now will you live up to your promise? Don't go away mad, just go away!

At various times in life I have had to learn to live very frugally on a small amount of money. One thing I would do is learn how to be creative with rice and buy a 20kg sack of rice (lasts months) and buy super cheap vegetables near the end of the day at the fruit and veg markets. The ones that might get htrown out otherwise.

And if possible try to grow some easy to grow things like spinach and other greens even in pots if you have no room.

Friends also used to go dumpster divign for free food.

    goodluck
