Is it normal to have to ask my best friend what to say to girls?

So I'm 17 and hopeless when it comes to talking to girls. I just have no idea what I'm supposed to say, and it must get annoying when I have to ask my friend to tell me what to say in online chat and stuff. I could say 'hi', sure, but I have no idea what comes next. I'm awkward and shy and in the process of being diagnosed with Asperger's... so yeah, it's pretty dire.
So is this normal-ish? And how do I improve my social skills when it comes to women?

First everyone suddenly had ADHD, now it's ass-burgers XD One word: overdiagnosis!

I would ask you to reevaluate your ignorance, but judging by your post it seems it's too late for that.
Before the diagnosis there was no doubt that I was neurologically different to everyone else; now it's just on my medical record. If you had any idea what it's like to be born at a disadvantage, you would not cast such aspersions.
Maybe you should try for a diagnosis of Ignorance; that is possibly the one thing that could never be over-diagnosed.

I agree with the questions thing... What is their favorite color, song, etc....... Once you get the tap open, usually you have to forcibly close it...

I just do not understand. I have seen a billion topics about this. We are not different? Why would it be any different to talk to a guy who is your friend and a girl who is also your friend?
I mean, what are your fears? That we are different and we might like different stuff? I think that some of my guy friends seem to understand me better that some of my girl friends. I even trust guys more.

Anyway, I might understand that sometimes I get nervous whenever I have to talk to a guy who is very hot, because I'm scared to screw up and that he will think i'm stupid or not interesting. So i guess thats kinda what happens to you? Well... I dont know about face-to-face, but I think you can do well while texting. People from your class. talk about classes, insult teachers, whatever... and then just talk about everything! like if he was a guy. just don't mention if youre wanking or anytthing. (iunno if you do that hah) that would be creepy 0:)

You talk to them like any other person, except sprinkle in a few compliments on appearance here and there.

Actually, just don't really talk at all. Make a random observation, ask them a question, and they will do all of the talking.
      A lot of talking.
They'll talk your fuckin head off, mate.

Urgh, as a girl I'm sick and tired of the whole "Hello beautiful" thing. If you are going to compliment a girl be creative and personal- no standardized shit.
