Is it normal to have thought i was normal untill....

Is it normal to think you're a logical, reasonable person but find people disagree with you a lot? Or find your opinions unpopular?

Don't get me wrong, I'm always interested in learning and listening and conversing and debating! I'm not close-minded nor do I think I know everything, I'm just comfortable in my theories and ideas, I feel like I put a lot of personal thought into things whereas a lot of other people just repeat what they hear or say what they think people want to hear for fear of being different or go against the crowd.

If you're an intelligent, logical, reasonable person, chances are you're going to find your thoughts on the wrong side of the majority quite often.

Some people think they are thinking, when really they're just rearranging their prejudices.

  • When it comes to personal beliefs, logic mostly doesn't figure, so unless you are debating science or something that is based on facts, most people will disagree.

Because we all have different opinions.

It sucks doesn't it? Always being the little nerd i was in elementary school, I felt completely detached from the morons i considered class mates. At 8 I really invested my time in reading about god, because i didn't think it right to blindly follow someone I didn't even know existed. I didn't read jesus picture books either, i felt they dresses up the stories to much to make them more suitable for children, leaving out some vary important facts. When I started asking peers in my class what they thought i was always met with the same unoriginal answer, "Uuuh, I donno. My mom says he exists so i believe her.".. Idiots. I didn't have a mother to shield me from the truth so i decided to ask a teacher. He recommended me to the school psychologist.. Idiot. I have learned to just keep my opinions to myself unless it was a subject I was passionate about. Don't stop thinking differantly then you do, because it doesn't matter how wrong everyone tells you you are, If YOU feel like you are looking at it right and they are not, never dumb your self down just to fit in. you should still investigate why they think it's a certain way, who know, you might be the one in the wrong here.

I understand what you are saying. I'm the same way.

  • The "majority" are ruled by something other than logic and reason.

I think it is normal and good to think deeply and logically. Though, I find it beneficial to start off slowly when you express deep feelings and thoughts to others. Sometimes topics such as God can be too touchy to just dive into with some people. Also, I like contributing ideas and motivations rather than trying to convince something to someone.

Where do you encounter these issues? I know I feel completely out of place in a mall so I don't look to malls for intellectual conversations. Not that they can't happen there, I just wouldn't expect it. Logic and past experience tells me that I am out of my element in that situation.
