Is it normal to have this type of relationship?

I met this girl at a speech and debate tournament at school. I walked up to her and said I liked her a lot and other sweet stuff. I got her number and I found out that she lives about six hours away from me. I don't have a car. I can only see her when we go to other tournaments. We both are very busy with school and I don't have much time to text her. I can text her every other day. My friends say to stop pursuing her.

we also are of different races. My friends and some of my family members disapprove of interracial dating. I assume her friends and family don't care about skin color.

Any advice?

    Sounds like a long distance relationship, though 6 hours is a bit on the short end. My advice is to continue with the relationship. It doesn't sound as if you two are struggling, just everyone else around you is. You're not dating them, just her, so go with your heart, I wish you all well :)
