Is it normal to have this happen?

At school, my friend had to take a test during lunch(she was absent the day of the test) and I went to the computer lab to work on an animation for a science project. After the lunch break was over, one of my friend's BFF's said to my friend, you are a bit*h for abandoning me. She didn't know about the test, and didn't give us a chance to explain. She swore about every bad word she knew and flipped us off. I was right next to my friend, and she had finished the test 2 minutes before the bell rang. Now I feel guilty for hanging out w/ my friend and may have caused her to lose one of her best friends. My friend's friend also blames me for whenever my friend does not hang out w/ her at lunch. Usually my friend is doing her homework in the library from the day before, since she almost always forgets to do her homework. What should I do?
