Is it normal to have this big of a double-standard?

http://republicbroadcasting.org/index.php?cmd=news.article&articleID=4166

"The United States, Israel and some of their allies have accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program with Tel Aviv recently stepping up its threats against the Islamic Republic."

"Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes."

"Unlike Iran, Israel is a non-signatory to the NPT and continues to defy international calls to join the treaty."

is it normal to have a double-standard this gigantic???

Israel never threatened to wipe any nation off of the map. Iran is ruled by Muslim nuts, who time after time have proven that they have no problem killing innocent people as long as it helps their goal, in Iran-Iraq war over hundred thousand civilians were killed. Iran used to be a free country until the Islamic revolution and many people would like it to be this way, which as many examples already showed, won't happen peacefully, now add a nuke to this equation and see what you get. Israel have been in many wars, in second Lebanon war it could've used a nuke to wipe southern Lebanon from the planet and Hizbollah with it, but it didn't happen.

"Israel never threatened to wipe any nation off of the map."

      One word: Palestine.

Did the Palestinians disappear? Did Gaza became a wasteland? From the very beginning Israel offered 2 states for 2 nations. The original plan was that the Jews get 1/3 of the land and Palestinians get 2/3, guess who disagreed. Its the Palestinians who threatened and tried to destroy Israel.

No, the Israelis and the Palestinians were offered the two-state solution by a UN commission, the Israelis didn't offer that (okay, SOME Israelis offered that. Then again, so did SOME Palestinians, but it wasn't taken up until the UN re-proposed it). The land was previously owned *entirely* by the Palestinians, so 100% of it should have been theirs, not half. 65% of the population of the land was non-Jewish, but the Jews got half the land (NOT 1/3 like you say, for the record, although 1/3 would have been more fair), which is blatantly unfair.

The Jews are currently threatening to destroy Palestine. You don't have to make a speech saying "I THREATEN TO DESTROY YOU LOL" to be threatening. You can be threatening by your actions. I'm not saying the Palestinians have not behaved threateningly too, but to say the Israelis have "never threatened to wipe any nation off of the map" is, simply, false :P

I was with you until the phrase "The Jews".

Technically, the phrase "the Jews" is just as misleading as when I said "the Palestinians". When I was referring to the nationalities/groups of people, I was meaning to refer to their specific governments only (with the government of the Jews being the Israeli government). I didn't realise I was being misleading; I thought what I meant was implied through the context but obviously it wasn't.

Read history about the original plan, at first it was 2/3. Israel could entirely wipe out every Palestinian 64 years ago, yet still haven't done so, do you think if the Palestinians would've won the 48 war the Jews would keep living like the Palestinians do now? What makes this land Palestinian? the Muslims OCCUPIED it from the Byzantine empire. The place changed owners all the time, the fact is that in 1948 there was no state of Palestine, there was the British mandate, there were two nations living in this land, both deserve a land, Palestinians were the ones who refused the separation plan and wanted all of the land. There isn't even such thing as Palestinian people, the name of Palestine is an ancient name, and the Muslim Arabs who OCCUPIED this place called themselves Palestinians, that's why when you ask any Palestinian about their family you'll find out that they have some family either in Egypt, Jordan or Syria. There is a lot of land that belongs to Muslim Arabs, its not that the Palestinians don't have anywhere to live, its a matter of controlling the whole area, that's why they didn't want the separation plan.

Threatening? They've been able to destroy Gaza for years. Yet never have. Their were Jews living their before Israel came to existence. There were also Jews living there before Islam even existed.

Yes, EVERY SINGLE JEW IN THE WORLD is currently plotting to destroy Palestine. All of them. The ones in Europe, the ones in the US, even the ones that aren't even religious to begin with- all of them.

If you said "Israel", instead of "the Jews", you're argument would probably be a little bit more sound.

When I said "the Jews", I was just meaning the Israeli government. I didn't realise I was being offensive; I presumed that what I meant was clear from the context but it obviously wasn't.

I usually don't take sides on political debates but your first sentence deserves a thumb up.
I don't care if people build intergalactic mecha robots in their back yard, as long as they don't threaten others.

  • Shrewdness (and in a way strength) is the virtue by which all things live or die.

If Iran can be stopped from having nuclear weapons, then it was right to do so as they were never worthy to have them to begin with.

  • Israel has more nukes than anyone in the world, America has a shit ton too. Who are we to say who can and can't have nukes?

Agreed on the hyposcrisy we show with this but I think your numbers may be off and even if they aren't, the US still has enough by itself to destroy all life on earth a few times. So having more is slightly overrated.

Here is a better double standard. Why is it that Israel's critics are so busy criticizing Israel for being racist and an apartheid, yet are fine with all the anti-semitism in Islamic countries?

Israel clearly has nukes because of self-defense. iran wants them so they could nuke Israel. If you can't see that than you're delusional.

  • why would anyone want nukes for they aren't good for nothing but trouble i really don't give a fuck what country has them they should get rid of them in space

Now to be fair, Israel's nukes are probably the ONLY thing keeping a Middle Eastern country from invading it. And Israel IS surrounded on all sides by countries that completely and utterly despise it.

    • Yeah this is true, maybe they should stop invading those border countries and people wouldn't mind them.
