Is it normal to have temporary loss of vision

It has happened to me twice now within two weeks where suddenly a part of my peripheral vision is lost temporarily. I lost about 20-30% of my peripheral vision to the left of my central line of vision during both times this happened and it took between 1 and 2 hours for it to return to normal again. I also had a mild headache during and after the vision loss so whether they are linked I don't know. I also noticed that the vision loss was the same in both eyes so perhaps the cause is not within the eyes themselves but maybe with the brain or signals to the brain. I'm no expert so I really have no clue what might be going on.
Any thoughts on what might be happening or whether this is normal would be awesome

Thanks

This happens to me too - I get these weird shimmery crystally lights right before, cant focus on what I try to focus on. I sometimes would get a headache but not always - it happens the most after really intense exercise for me. BTW I had a brain scan and Im totally normal otherwize.

I get that when my sugar is low. And I'm not even a diabetic. But it does run in my family.

You probably should get checked out, and drink lots of juice.

Sounds like it could be a symptom of a migraine. When one begins for me, I get an "aura" or tunnel vision and I can't focus my eyes. (I also get numbness in my face and hands, I can't make a coherent sentence, and often I start throwing up. Very scary and disorienting.) The headaches that follow vary in severity. I have found that if I notice some symptoms of one coming on I must stop what I'm doing, take medicine, and close my eyes. TMI, probably, but this might be what you are dealing with. I would see your doctor to figure it out.

My mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about a year ago, and she noticed the first symptoms she had were bad headaches and loss of her vision. Vision loss was the worst symptom she faced. I recommend seeing a doctor to find out more about your vision loss!

You need to see an OPTICIAN urgently - not an optometrist. The optician is your first port of call who will send you to a doctor depending what he sees at the back of your eye. They can see all sorts of problems - tumours, cancer, etc.

Me too. I wake up feeling like I've been experimented on and the victim of a chemical attack. And those aliens sure do like to drink. They leave empties strewn all over the place.

      Damn aliens!

  • I'm pretty sure the headaches are connected, I've heard of it before. Not sure what it could be a symptom of though.

You often see lists with titles such as "Ten symptoms you need to get checked up immediately". They more often than not include rectal bleeding, weight loss, unexplained bruises, fainting fits. They also include loss of vision.

It doesn't mean it's serious. It means you need to get it checked out just on the off-chance that it is.

I have a loss of vision sometimes when I get up in the morning, everything is blurry and my head gets dizzy, it last about 10 seconds before everything clears
