Is it normal to have superiors who do not work at all?

I just ended my work at this workplace. For the past 1 year I've been there, I realised that my superiors do minimal work. They push the work to their subordinates and go off for long lunch breaks. The only time they interact with us is to assign us with tasks or to scold us for being incapable.

The truth is, most of their work is being pushed to and covered by us. It demoralises the entire workplace, as these bosses are earning significantly higher pay, yet they do significantly less work than the junior workers. To make things worse, the bosses frequently cover for each other when they make serious errors or mistakes, pushing much of the blame to the subordinates.

Does seniority in a workplace really justify or equate to how much work you are expected to do? And finally, is it normal?

Why don't you become one of the superiors? If they're on such a good thing join them.

I never said you could, but sitting about bitching on the Internet about how hard done by you are isn't going to do it.

    Yes. Normal as hell.
Same stuff happens here. Grocery manager keeps up here late doing his job, and when it's time for his bonus, he works the fuck out of us and then he looks good and gets the bonus even though we, the stockers, did 100% of the work.

I don't entirely agree with all you've said but I've had lunch and feeling lazy. I'll come back and comment when I feel lighter.

Sounds like my workplace. And no, it isn't normal. But it is something going on everyday, and all around.

What's considered the 'norm', isn't always normal.

That's how it is. The higher up you are, the less work you do. The bigger your office is, the more money you get. Bullshit. I guess they 'worked' their way up to not working.

That is exactly why people get promoted, so they can boss other people around.

I quit my work after a solid few years because of this. I wasnt upset about my superiors doing little work, just that i wasn't making the same wage as everyone else but worked twice as much...

Does seniority in a workplace really justify or equate to how much work you are expected to do? No, seniority SHOULD mean you take on more responsibilities. The problem is there are SO many people out there doing the opposite. These are the same people our society defines to us as "normal", while poople like me can sit there and be labeled a schizo

I hate the fact that this is the truth.. I would feel so guilty not doing the work I'm assigned, even if I were management. I almost quit my last job numerous times because my coworker would always get bitched at by my manager for not finishing one thing, when him and I did, literally, all of the physical labor in that workplace.

Welcome to the world of work. Some of my superiors are in place because they are impressive individuals. The majority, however, saw promotion as the best way of avoiding work.

I didn't read any of that. I just voted yes, because superiors usually do not work at all.
