Is it normal to have strange thoughts during pregnancy?

I'm 6 months pregnant and I have recently ( within the past week or 2 ) started having dreams and strange thoughts that there is someone in my house. I have never had thoughts like this or even psyched myself out this bad before I was pregnant... anyway... it is getting so bad that I have not been able to sleep well the past few nights, my husband thinks I might just be a subconscious thing about me not thinking I'll be able to protect our child... I don't know... is it normal?

Omg some of these responses are sickening because an expectant mom is having weird dreams that automatically means her baby is dead ! What's the matter with you heartless people one individual suggested an ABORTION that MURDER are are you people super high or mentally ill maybe you're just saying these things for shock value my best friend started having weird dreams BEFORE she even missed a period before she knew she was pregnant pregnant women tend to have weird dreams sometime or another during pregnancy its normal my god have a little sympathy just because you're behind a computer in your little cubby hole doesn't mean you have to be an asshole least of all to a pregnant woman its obvious these dreams are stemming from fear and anxiety for her unborn child cut out the morbid stuff its mean

Don't pay any attention to the wack jobs on here. Like the poster above me said, it's perfectly normal. I had some weird feelings and even weirder dreams when I was pregnant with my first child. She arrived right on schedule and is perfectly healthy. Good luck and blessings to you and your child.

Hello, i am training to be a midwife and have recently learnt that worrying about baby and delivery can be connected with subconcious thoughts of fear or uncomfort. If you are really worried about this , see your gp or a phycyatrist and you will hopefully be releived of of these effects. Good luck.!

Mothers tend to worry more than they ever have before in their life, whether that baby has been born yet or not. Normal? yes. But if its really getting to you, maybe talk to your mom or another mom about the worries of being a mother. They might not have had the exact same, but they will probably know what it feels like and can give you some advice.

Jeez! What's up with these responses???It's just evidence of your anxiety about motherhood, which is not only normal, but healthy! You will be taking care of another life! As long as it is not dramatically affecting your daily life, you are fine. I dreamed that my firstborn came out as a 6-inch tall green alien (and I loved it all the same!). That had NOTHING to do with the reality of the healthy baby I gave birth to.

When I was 2 months pregnant I had a dream at 2am showing me giving birth.....6Months kept ringing in my mind and it showed a VERY fast deliverly and the docs whooshing the baby away before I could see it...then it was like my eyes blinked for a while and the dream showed me taking a full term "big baby" home. I was so diisturbed I woke up...woke Jeff up told him the story...told my sis the story the next day and they kep assuring me I was scared of labor and pregnancy....WELL my baby came 6months to the day...3 months early.....the day she was born she came so fast the docs couldnt even get in the room to catch her. they wisked her away and I didnt get to see her for an hour...then the doc comes in and says your baby, being 3 months premature, will not be going home until her schedualed birthday....My dream was so detailed that I find it hard to distiguish the dream from the reality of that day....It was the one thing that kept me hanging on during all the things we had to go through in the NICU..i know now that I could not see that "middle part" of the dream because I just would not have undestood it.

Well, i'm not sure but i think it may have something to do with having child. It maybe motherly instincts kicking in. If you are a first time mother than i'm sure that has something to do with it. If it gets any worse you should talk to your doctor to see if that's normal.

i have seen this many times before the child in your womb is either dead now or is not going to make it. i am a professor of sleep psycology and when an expecting mother has dreams such as this she is sensing "the paranormal" that are gathering because they can feel death is coming and they are their to help take the soul. there is nothing you can do except prepare yourself. also if you have any animals they will awake at certain times in the night and either stare at one spot or become deffensive and protective over you and your husband. this will seem to happen not every night but often and usually at around 10 at night and around 2-3 in the morning. also other expecting mothers with similar dreams have reported feeling like someone grabs and tugs on their ankles when their is no one their. they all have lost their child (and in a couple cases more than one child, such as twins) in a time span of 3 weeks after the tugging sensation. but some do not experience this but still loose their child.

Dream MIGHT have some value in roughly predicting parts of the future... but the guy above me is a nutty professor. Never believe a paranormal professor, it always seems to go downhill from there. If you do experience some of those symptoms, they are either coincidental or you have convinced and deluded yourself into experiencing them (you can't imagine how easily you can be manipulated, you naive fool). Especially since you're pregnant. What's more important to a mother than her child at your stage? I'd actually expect you to become deluded. Sorry to hear about the nightmares. Maybe you can get an abortion? Then you don't have to worry and it also gives a pretty neat thrill. I hope everything turns out well and that, like most others, your dream was just based on baseless paranoia. Also, try to watch out for coincidences. Act too slowly, and you'll have a dead baby before you know it.
