Is it normal to have stories planned out in your head?

A couple months ago.. An idea for a book popped into my head. It was a really good idea too, and I had it all planned out, but when I sit down to write it, I can't find the words. I have like 5 really good stories in my head now. What should I do??

I do this all the time. If you're alone, sit with a pad of paper and a pen and speak your thoughts out loud. It works.

Tape recorder. Think out loud and record it. When you go back and play it, it might be easier on ya.

It has happened to me too. However, I've taken to writing down my ideas so I can use them later on for books:)

Write down the idea, just the bare bones of it, and eventually the word's will come. Also, just write WHATEVER come to you first. Authors always rewrite their books and edit them as they go along. Writing 10 pages a day is considered a lot.

Take you time, I had a story I wanted to write about 6 months before I started writing and now I'm 140 pages into it.

sit down and start writing whatever comes to mind, don't even worry about whether its good, just get it down. You don't even have to start at the beginning. I often times actually write my stories out of order and piece them together later with some transitions. The human brain doesn't usually think in chronological order.

gat a pad of paper and just brainstorm it all down onto paper that way you can put it all together and create a book i have personally written 7 storys about 100 pages for each one and i am only 15 just try the brainstorm thing it is really easy to just write out the story after..

They say that when u have a good story, just write the ideas freely and don't think too much of the grammars and other technicals. :) good luck!

  • I have always planned stories in my head, ever since I was little. I begin them, then when I have free time I always continue them until I have a conclusion. I haven't been motivated enough to write them down until recently, but I always used to think I was the only person who'd have random inspiration for stories, and write them in my head.

That same thing applies to me. I always have a story idea on hand. Before you forget these story ideas, go write them down or else all that thinking will have been in vain!

I have this happen 2 me all llllll the time also but I've found it happens because I gues I summarize it n my head and it's harder to write it out n a story plus thinking is easier and faster than actually writing

Ideas come to me all the time (writing projects, art projects, photo projects)... sometimes they're overwhelming but you have to do your best to reconstruct what was in your brain.

Dude, I have three planned out in my head! Two of which don't even have titles but whatever... Not sure if it's normal but it's f**king great and you should be proud. I'd personally love to hear your plotlines~ ^^

  • Yes, it is completely normal. Infact, I'd say its a gift. I do the same thing except its like ten or fifteen different stories. I've started writing down about eight of nine of them but I have not even completed one. Just try jotting down quick notes or creating an outline. This will help you in the long run because it will help you look back and remember the entire story. And then eventually, when the time is right, you feel the need to descriptively rewrite your story, which will then be a novel. I find that this helps, althought, as I said before, I've yet to complete a story. But this techniqe helps me get more written in less time.

Happens to me all the time! I have these great stories, but once i started writing the first chapter, I get bored and never think about it again! It's so annoying!

God, I hate that. Maybe it's because i'm planning the middle of the freakin story instead of the beginning. Just go with it, and make stuff up as you go along that fits. I've got 3 awesome ideas, one has actually started to be a graphic novel. Authors always welcome!
